The Strategic Planner
Here we are almost at the end of semester one. We have just reviewed the school’s annual plan with staff for the second time and celebrated what we have achieved. We have also discussed what we are in the middle of, and what we are yet to commence – it is a one year plan after all and not a six month plan. Like all good educators, we have reflected upon where we are and made modifications to our actions and targets to ensure we are on track to implement our strategies and achieve our goals.
We are also setting aside time for the leadership team to get together and commence planning for 2017. We need to have this pretty well fleshed out before the end of term 3 to ensure that we can resource that program. This will also enable us to set up the following years staff performance and development plans late in term 4 so that they align with the school’s annual plan.
A key role of the school leadership team is to provide strategic direction and this takes planning, and planning takes time. So take the time to plan and plan to take time!
