Victorian Fellows Support Group

Victorian Fellows Support Group Program Form

Dear Colleague,

The ACEL Victoria Fellows Support Group Program has been designed to provide eligible ACEL member schools with access to independent, experienced and reliable advice which is non-obligatory. This initiative, under the guidance of a Steering Committee of ACEL Fellows, aims to link the expertise of volunteer Fellows with schools and school leaders in need.

As you may well be aware, a pilot program of the ACEL Fellows Support Group initiative, involving two different schools, was conducted in April and May 2013. Essentially, the pilot involved the team leader making initial contact with each school Principal to ascertain the nature of a pressing issue, followed by a one day visit to the school, preparation of a draft report and discussion with the school’s leadership. Finally, team members contributed to the production of a two-page report that was emailed to the Principal within five days of the visit.

The response from both school personnel and the Fellows involved was most encouraging.

Now that the pilot has concluded, we are seeking to expand the scope of the program. The expectation is that the Steering Committee of Fellows will initially act as leaders of small teams of three or four. ACEL school leaders will be able to request assistance from a Fellows Support Group Team. The team leader will respond to a specific issue in an interested school. Each leader will then approach two or three Fellows with relevant expertise; a date will be set that is mutually acceptable to the school and the Fellows’ Team; an agenda for the visit will be scheduled and the visit undertaken; a draft report will be presented to the school leadership and a final report will be delivered to the Principal within five working days. Team members will receive an allowance for travel expenses.

To enable us to address the interest anticipated from school leaders, we are seeking Expressions of Interest from ACEL Fellows living in Victoria. To this end, we would be grateful if you could complete and submit the pro-forma below.

An ‘Expression of Interest’ is just that! It is not a commitment to undertake any specific visit or visits, nor is it an obligation of ACEL to utilise your expertise or services. It is merely a step in establishing a group of Fellows that a given team leader might approach to establish their Support Team.

We trust that you will give this ‘Expression of Interest’ your serious consideration to support our current Victorian school leaders.

With best wishes,

Associate Professor Noel Stonehouse FACEL
